News from The Estates Office
Business News #19
CalMac director of operations, Robert Morrison, has urged the public to heed the travel restrictions across their routes to avoid being turned away at the port. Following lockdown restrictions, CalMac have restricted passages on their routes to residents and essential travel, checking drivers licences for proof they are island residents, or evidence that they are a key worker.
The warning has come after 35 passengers were refused non-essential travel on their Largs, Bute and Arran routes respectively last weekend. CalMac are hoping that the forthcoming May holiday weekend will be a repeat of the Easter weekend, when people heeded the advice to stay home.
CalMac has seen a 95% reduction in passengers and vehicles across all it’s routes since the lockdown began, and took the decision to suspend all advance bookings. They have introduced an Essential Lifeline Timetable which will run until 14th May 2020, and will be subject to continual review.
