News from The Estates Office
Business News #26
The Scottish Tenant Farmers Association (STFA) and NFU Scotland (NFUS) have welcomed the confirmation that the deadline of the amnesty on tenant farmers improvements has been extended by 6 months. The amnesty, introduced in June 2017, has been extended due to difficulties surrounding COVID-19, with the new deadline date set as 12th December 2020.
However, tenants have been advised not to become complacent with their amnesties, and ensure they are completed in good time, with applications often taking up to 6 months in normal circumstances. While it provides some breathing space for tenants, STFA Chairman Christopher Nicholson has urged tenants “not to take their feet off the gas”, and added “The next few weeks could be an ideal time to get the amnesty done, once IACS applications are completed and before the busy summer season begins, many may even have time on their hands with the cancellation of summer shows and other activities.”
