Update: EPC Regulations
It has now be announced by the Scottish Government that the new Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Regulations and guidance for private rented properties has been delayed until October 2020 rather than 1st April 2020.
The Scottish Government were coming under pressure from a number of organisations to publish the regulations to allow as much time for landlords to make any necessary changes to their properties with the 1st April 2020 fast approaching.
It is understood that the Scottish Government will lay the new EPC Regulations before Scottish Parliament this week and will still come in on 1st April but they will not be enforced until 1st October 2020.
These minimum energy efficiency standards for private rented properties within Scotland will likely be phased in and increased over time. Properties will need to meet these minimum EPC ratings in order to continue to rented out.
